"The attack did not kill the human spirit or the pride that comes with being an American."
The prayers and condolences of the brothers of Kappa Upsilon go out to the victims of these senseless tragedies.
9.20.01: After raising $340 on Wednesday and $628 on Thursday, Pike has now collected $2,215 for the American Red Cross. Also, the effort was featured on ABC News at 6 with a closeup of our table, our letters, as well as a brief interview with Greg Goodman about the possibility of a draft. Special thanks go out to the brothers of Alpha Phi Omega, the community service fraternity who donated $205 that they fundraised themselves to our efforts.
9.20.01: The American Red Cross was on campus Thursday along with Pike and AXO helping to raise awareness and get volunteers for the relief effort. Over 100 people signed up for the new Red Cross club on AU's campus while many also offered to give blood in the upcoming blood drive.
9.18.01: After only one day of fundraising Pike and Alpha Chi Omega have collected $1,247 for the relief efforts of the American Red Cross. From 10:00am until 5:00pm, brothers and sisters manned a table outside the Mary Gradon Center where they distributed red, white, and blue memorial ribbons to donators. Although all 225 ribbons ran out in just over four hours, the donations continued to pour in. After the day's work was completed at the table, brothers took to rush hour traffic at Ward Circle to solicit contributions from drivers waiting at red lights. In addition, there were collection areas in TDR (Terrace Dining Room) during dinner hours.
9.18.01: The fundraising efforts will continue on Wednesday, September 19 with brothers going through the dorms asking students to dig deep into their pockets to help the cause. Thursday and Friday will mark a return to the tables in front of the Mary Gradon Center from 10:30am until 5:00pm. Donations from all Greek organizations on campus are also being asked for. This Saturday, September 22, Pike will write the final check to the Red Cross.
